As most of you are aware by now, the GIC has decided to reconsider its recent 8-5 vote taken on January 18, 2018 to eliminate Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Tufts Health Plan, and Fallon Community Health as health insurance carriers for state employees. This reconsideration is the result of growing criticism and backlash from employees and our Union Brothers and Sisters from across the Commonwealth as well as an open meeting law investigation launched by the Attorney General’s Office. The matter has not yet been resolved, the three major health insurance carriers have not been reinstated, and I urge each of you to continue to keep the pressure on.
I ask that you make every effort to join our Union Brothers and Sisters from across the Commonwealth at the following events:
- Speak Out Rally for public employees and elected officials Tuesday, January 30, at the Boston Teachers Union Hall, 180 Mount Vernon St., Dorchester
- GIC Oversight Hearing Wednesday January 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Massachusetts State House Gardner Auditorium
- GIC Meeting Thursday February 1, 2018 at 19 Staniford Street, GIC 4th Floor, Nancy Bolduc Conference Room
It is important that we stick together on this very important issue and make our collective voices be heard.
